LAURIE PETERSON

Teacher

Laurie Peterson attended Biola University, receiving her bachelor’s degree in mathematics with a minor in Bible. Mrs. Peterson is also ACSI certified. She began teaching by homeschooling her own four children from 1991-2013, taking them from kindergarten through high school. Mrs. Peterson has attended Bethany Bible Fellowship for 30 years. When her fourth child was in high school, she began substitute teaching on a volunteer basis at Bethany Christian Academy. After a few years substituting in various grades, Mrs. Peterson knew God was calling her to teach junior high students. She has been on staff teaching at BCA now for nearly 14 years. Mrs. Peterson loves the warm environment of Bethany Christian Academy, where relationships are built between staff and students, and God’s purposes for His world are woven into the curriculum in every subject.

Mrs. Peterson was married 39 years to her loving and godly husband, Ed. Now that God has called him home to heaven, she feels free to devote more time to teaching at Bethany. In her spare time, she walks and goes to the gym, travels a bit, does dog-sitting for others, and enjoys ministry in music, prayer, and teaching kids at church. She also enjoys her home in Huntington Beach, which is near to her four children and their spouses, along with a total of seven grandchildren.
